A Strong Start for Bright Futures: Inside MNVA’s Online Preschool Program
Starting preschool is a big step for both kids and parents. At Minnesota Virtual Academy (MNVA), families can take that step together in a fun, flexible, and supportive online environment that prepares children for kindergarten and beyond.
MNVA’s online preschool program is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and make learning feel like playing. It’s a half-day program that’s perfect for families who want structure and school readiness, without giving up the flexibility of home.
How It Works
The MNVA preschool runs for half days, typically from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. During that time, children meet with their teacher and classmates in two engaging live sessions: a 30-minute large group session where they read stories, explore new topics, and learn together, followed by a 30-minute small group session focused on personalized instruction and interaction.
Between sessions, students have asynchronous activities they can complete at home. These short, hands-on lessons reinforce what they’ve learned in class and help them practice new skills in fun ways, whether they’re counting blocks, tracing letters, or matching colors.
Once families enroll, all learning materials are shipped directly to their home, so students have everything they need to learn and play.
Learning That’s Play-Based and Purposeful
At MNVA, preschool isn’t about keeping kids busy, it’s about getting them ready. Our program uses the Embark curriculum, created by developmental psychologists and early learning experts to help children grow across six key subject areas.
With over 1,200 interactive, play-based activities, the curriculum keeps learning exciting through songs, stories, visuals, and hands-on projects. Students explore 18 themed units that teach letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and social skills through fun online and offline experiences.
Each lesson is easy to follow and flexible enough to fit your child’s learning style, ensuring that every student gets the right balance of structure and independence.
More Than Daycare: It’s School Readiness
MNVA’s preschool isn’t just an afternoon activity. It’s a true school readiness program that helps children build the foundational skills they’ll need for kindergarten success, from following directions and working in groups to recognizing letters, numbers, and patterns.
Last year, the preschool class reached full capacity, and every single student went on to enroll in MNVA’s kindergarten program this fall. Teachers say that transition is smooth because the students already know how to navigate online learning, follow class routines, and stay engaged, giving them a confident head start.
Parents Learn Alongside Their Kids
Because students are still young, parents and caregivers play an important part in the learning process, especially when it comes to logging into the Class Connect platform and getting set up for each session.
Many parents find that this shared experience becomes one of their favorite parts of the program. It’s a chance to watch their child discover new things, share in those “aha” moments, and see firsthand how much they’re learning and growing.
Ready to Begin?
At MNVA, preschool is more than early education; it’s the start of a lifelong love of learning. With caring teachers, engaging lessons, and plenty of room for discovery, children get the strong foundation they need to shine in kindergarten and beyond.
